Pre-School - Discovering God's World
This program accents an appreciation of oneself as a child of God and finding God in all Creation. Pre-K classes are held on Sunday mornings once a month, on the first A-week or B-week of the month. Children who are four years old are eligible.
Kindergarten - God Made the World
Children continue to find God in their world. They hear stories about Jesus, watch videos that teach them life lessons, and pray together.
Grade 1 thru Grade 8
Grade One - GOD LOVES US- This book offers an Introduction to the Trinity - Father, Son and Holy Spirit in an age-appropriate manner.
Grade Two - JESUS SHARES GOD'S LIFE- Children and parents gather to learn and celebrate their relationship to Jesus as they prepare for First Holy Communion and a life of closeness to God and the Church.
Grade Three - WE ARE THE CHURCH - The children are introduced to the Acts of the Apostles and learn about their local parish as well.
Grade Four - GOD'S LAW GUIDES US - The children get an extensive understanding of the Ten Commandments, the Laws of the Church, and hear more about the life of Jesus.
Grade Five - WE MEET JESUS IN THE SACRAMENTS - Children are taught about the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist), Service (Holy Orders and Matrimony) and Healing (Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick). They also learn about the Beatitudes and the marks of the Church. Fifth graders are presented with a bible that will be theirs to keep and use as they continue their religious education.
Grade Six - WE ARE GOD'S PEOPLE- The sixth graders learn about the Old Testament and Jewish customs and rituals so they can better understand Jesus. Connections are made to New Testament realities.
Grade Seven - THE NEW TESTAMENT- Our young people learn about the background of Jesus, the four gospels and the Epistles and Acts of the Apostles.
Grade Eight - CHURCH HISTORY - The students learn of their religious heritage through the history of the Catholic Church -- a marvelous story of saints and sinners, successes and failures, hopes and disappointments.
Confirmation Year 1
The Sacrament of Confirmation completes the rites of initiation. In the Diocese of Paterson, Confirmation is celebrated in sophomore year of high school. The two year preparation takes place in freshman and sophomore year at the home parish regardless of where the youth attends high school, private or public.
Confirmation Year 2
This is the second year of preparation for Confirmation
